Ο Ελισσαίος Paul Ταϊγανίδης γεννήθηκε στον Πολύμυλο Κοζάνης, στη Μακεδονία, το 1934. Αποφοίτησε αριστούχος από το μικτό Γυμνάσιο Βέροιας το 1952 και σπούδασε στην Αμερική με υποτροφία. Το διδακτορικό του στο Πολυτεχνείο του Iowa State University ήταν στην Περιβαλλοντική Μηχανική το 1963.

Δίδαξε ως καθηγητής στο Πολυτεχνείο του Ohio State University [1965-1975]. Διηύθυνε περιβαλλοντικά έργα για τα Ηνωμένα Έθνη στη Σιγκαπούρη, τη Μαλαισία, το Μεξικό, την Πολωνία, την Τσεχοσλοβακία [1972-1992]. Εργάστηκε ως τεχνικός εμπειρογνώμων για εταιρείες και διεθνή ινστιτούτα στη Βόρειο Αμερική, τη Λατινική Αμερική, την Ευρώπη και την Ασία. Παντρεύτηκε το 1961 τη Μάρω Λιαπάκη από την Κρήτη. Έχουν 3 παιδιά και 10 εγγόνια. Το 2005 άρχισε να δημοσιεύει το περιοδικό Ελληνικό Ήθος υπό την αιγίδα του Greek Olympic Society και δημοσίευσε τα κύρια άρθρα στο βιβλίο Greek Ethos. Επίσης έγραψε και σκηνοθέτησε τα έργα Η Δίκη του Σωκράτη και Η Δίκη της Αντιγόνης, ενώ ετοιμάζει τη Δίκη του Αγαμέμνονα στα αγγλικά και τα ισπανικά.

Παρουσιάζει κλασικές τραγωδίες και οργανώνει συμπόσια στην ελληνική κοινότητα στον Ελληνικό Ορθόδοξο Καθεδρικό Ναό του Κολούμπους, Οχάιο, όπου ο Ελισσαίος ζει, ψέλνει στην εκκλησία και είναι ενεργό μέλος της ελληνικής κοινότητας και του πανεπιστημίου. Προήδρευσε της επιτροπής Ohio Hellenic Paideia, η οποία συγκέντρωσε από δωρεές 1 εκατομμύριο δολάρια για την Έδρα Μιλτιάδης Μαρινάκης, για τη διδαχή της νεοελληνικής γλώσσας επ’ άπειρον, εις γενεάν και γενεάν, in perpetuity, στο Ohio State University.

Eliseos Paul Taiganides was born in the village of Polymylos in Macedonia in 1934, and upon graduation from Veria Gymnasium, went to America on a scholarship, attending St. Paul School in New York, the University of Maine, and earning an MS and PhD from Iowa State University, becoming the first Bio-Environmental Engineer, a pioneer of the environmental wave that began in 1963. After a British engineering journal published his doctoral thesis on the recovery of biogas from anaerobic digestion of livestock wastes. Professional and social organizations invited him to deliver the environmental message at their national conventions and to give the banquet or main keynote speech. He lectured throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

He served as a professor at Ohio State University from 1965 to 1975, introducing the first environmental courses and advising American and international graduate degree candidates. He served as a consultant to United Nations agencies, including the WHO in Europe (1972 to 1975) and the FAO in Asia and Mexico, managing environmental projects funded by the United Nations Development Programme and other international agencies for 10 years in Singapore and 2 years in Malaysia, 1975 to 1987. He served as a private consultant to those countries and others, as well as to corporations and international agencies.

Dr. Taiganides was active in the cultural and educational programs of the Hellenic community in Columbus, Ohio, where he lived with his wife and 3 children from 1965 to 2024, and helped organize the Greek Olympic Society and, through it, raised $1 million dollars to fund in perpetuity a professorship for the teaching of Modern Greek in the Classics Department of the Ohio State University. He was a chanter in the Greek Orthodox Church and helped organize cultural events and educational programs for the Hellenic community. He launched the Greek Ethos periodical and served as its chief editor for 34 issues over 20 years, from 2004 to 2024.

Dr. Taiganides is the author of a trilogy of books based Ancient Greek dramas, The Trial of Socrates, The Trial of Antigony, and the Trial of Agamemnon and the director of their theatrical production in Columbus, OH, and in Greece, in the village of Avdou, where the family moved in 2024, with the families of the 3 children: 2 boys and 1 girl, 11 grandchildren, and his Cretan wife of more than 60 years, Ms. Maro Liapaki.
